The Rejects of Gor

In denying our nature we betray no one but ourselves.
-         John Norman, ‘The Explorers of Gor
It is always a crime when someone is judged simply by the colour of their skin or the clothes they choose to wear. It is a crime also to differentiate on the grounds of age, physical looks or disabilities.
But we all know this happens, often. Sometimes the discrimination is subtle, quiet and underhand. Other times, like the subject to today’s blog post, the discrimination is blatant and obvious!
Consider what occurred when three innocent and friendly grid-travellers happened upon a Gor roleplay region.
Do you think these intrepid travellers would be welcomed with open arms, comforted and fed? Or despised, spat upon and banned?

Watch the short film below and see if your “guess”…or dare we say, “your bias based upon your stereotyped ideas about Gor”…are correct!
The answer, dear reader, might surprise you!
However, regardless the outcome of this episode, as John Norman correctly says, we can only be true to our own nature regardless of how others’ might treat us.
I bring you now, this special presentation called ‘The Rejects of Gor’:

The WarBug JitterBug

"Soon it will come to the folk-attention how close Wernher von Braun's birthday is to the Spring Equinox..."
- Pynchon, 'Gravity's Rainbow'
Arduenn Schwartzman is the creator of the marvellous 'Warbug' range of SL aircraft, as well as many other gadgets, gizmos and widgets - not to mention the BratWurst Oral Valentines Day Gift, the Potato Chip Cruncher, the Terror Bunny shoulder-pet and the adorable Wearable Dogfight Planes.
Tutsy, the Puddlegums and I are big fans of Arduenn's work. His sense of humour, sense of fun and creativity scream out at you in most everything he makes.
Arduenn is currently working on a rather hush-hush project with the much respected MadPea Productions. We look forward to seeing the outcome of that collaboration in a few months or so.
Tutsy and I discovered Arduenn's SL region, Black Forest , by accident when we were looking for a specific scene for my MachinimUWA V entry, "Fwd: Evolution". As it happens, we did find what we went looking for but on another region entirely! And then, the scene in question didn't actually make it into the final cut of the film anyway!
And thus was the circuitous route that the Mistress of Serendipity introduced us to Arduenn's creations! Since then, between the lot of us, I reckon we must have purchased at least one of everything in his stores!
Of special interest to us in this particular blog-post is Ardueen's fabulous 'WarBug' aircraft and the dogfights which occur in them at Black Forest.
The cumulative Combat Score for successfully shooting down an opponent is displayed on this website. I am currently ranked #67.
Rocky Vansant - a charismatic and fun guy that I have met before - is ranked #1. However, he somehow neglected to mention this fact while we were dogfighting...
Last week, I was dancing at Old Lar's House when I received an IM from Arduenn. In amongst our much longer chat was buried this gem in reference to the v2 iteration of the LLab viewer:
Arduenn Schwartzman: I blame V2
Pixie Rain: the WW2 German rocket?
Arduenn Schwartzman: lol
Arduenn Schwartzman: I should make a V2 Warbug!
Arduenn Schwartzman: and I should write 'Wernher von Braun' on them
Pixie Rain: YES!
And so was born Arduenn's latest creation - the V-2 Warbug Rocket - which I am grateful to be recognised as the Muse for and to have received a free copy of.
Saturday morning Tutsy and I piled over to Black Forest itching to dogfight against all comers in our Red Barron and V-2 Rocket Warbugs, respectively.
It is fair to say that Tutsy and my skill level was a tad or two under Rocky and Arduenn's. But, it was nevertheless great fun and highly recommended!

CЯYSTΛL - What’s This Crap?

"Art is not about technical skills,
it's about the reaction you get out of it."

- What’s This Art?
CЯYSTΛL (crystalship.rehula) is without doubt one of my favourite Second Life photographers.
I have probably “favorited” more of CЯYSTΛL’s work on Flickr than any other photographer, with the possible exceptions of Jinx Jiersen and Phillip Sidek.
CЯYSTΛL is owner of the “What’s This Art?” group – dedicated to the artistic and uncensored content that can be created in Virtual Worlds.
I find much of her work to be inspiring in terms of imagination and technical accomplishment.
I have to admit, I typed that last sentence with a certain amount of trepidation and wariness. The ‘What’s This Art?’ group has a certain “cool-to-be-cynical” vibe going on and such sentiments could easily bring ridicule on me or, even worse, on CЯYSTΛL herself. Nevertheless the sentence is true.
I logged on today to see a Group Notice announcing that CЯYSTΛL has opened a new exhibition  of both her newest and older photography. The exhibition is entitled “What’s This Crap?” and I tp’d over right away.
CЯYSTΛL, whom I have previously met in-world a number of times but only ever to say “Hello”, was there at the exhibition but “Away”. Approximately 60 to 70 of her photographs are on display. Quite a number I had seen before, others were new to me – all are tremendously good.
As a rather interesting aside, CЯYSTΛL was creator and original owner of the infamous ‘The Cumhouse’ club. Although I have personally only ever visited a few times – preferring myself the more salubrious surroundings of Old Lar’s House – they were fun and funny visits.
CЯYSTΛL’s current venture is ‘Hotel Californication’ – a cool-looking adult hangout and chill out place. I was especially pleased to see the walls were adorned with paintings created by American artist Terry Rodgers, whom we recently blogged about here.
I’d like to recommend that you check out CЯYSTΛL’s in-world exhibition – I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Meet the New Boss, Same As The Old Boss!

Lar Jun
One House; Two Doors!
Today, DJ Peris kicked off the opening of the new ‘Old Lar’s House’ venue.
The new venue spans two sims which means more people can now enter – up to 80 at once!
Months in the planning, the new venue opened at only 15 minutes notice. Five minutes after Opening, the first sim was full to the brim – within an hour, 70 people were bopping away.
There is a landing zone on each sim. If you try one entrance and find it full, simply use the landmark for the second entrance! One House; Two Doors!
The new venue looks exactly like the old one, and retains the same ambience and *feel*, but it is bigger and more “airy”. I like it.
Also, the new venue has its own fast food concession run by Nasty and Bobo Puddlegum, no less! From personal experience, I can not recommend the House Special. Or the Clam Surprise, for that matter.
The Bearded Clam
Old Lars recently celebrated its 2nd Anniversary and registered as the #23 most popular venue in Second Life for December 2011.
Lar has also been sponsoring my films since my very earliest days in SL. I am happy and proud to count Lar, and many of the regulars at Lar’s, amongst my friends.
Come on over, say ‘Hi’ and have a laugh!

There's Not Enough Boobs in the World for Peris Ashton!

DJ Peris Ashton - "I'm a Boob Man, myself"

Yesterday, ever-popular rock and blues DJ Peris Ashton decided to throw a spontaneous “Best Boobs” contest at Old Lar’s House.
Much to Solok’s Puddlegum's disgust - but everybody else's relief - Peris made it a “Ladies Only” competition.
The Gentleman of Old Lar’s (and I use the word “gentleman” both loosely and under advisement of a lawyer) chipped together to form a linden prize pool of 2000 Space Bux!
(click to images to enlarge)
It was seriously good fun with lots of jolly laughter, light-hearted banter and bouncing boobies!
Sadly however, in a competition of this sort there can only be two winners....and those winners belonged to the lovely Xio Nyoki!
Enjoy these pictures of Xio and her prize winning assets - Peris did!

DJ Peris entertains Old Lar's patrons weekdays and Saturday at 5am SLT onwards. Come see & listen!

Making Dick Trickle - Virtual World Tour

Andy Dennis plays the blues live at Old Lar's House every Sunday 11am SLT.

The combination of his guitar, mouth organ, cheeky personality and funny double entendres have made him a firm favourite and won him lots of new fans.

Although he claims to have backing musicians playing along with him in the studio - namely Tony the Terrible on bass guitar and Dick Trickle on drums - they have never actually materialised on stage in Second Life.

Many of us are now doubting their actual existence and until they appear on stage at Lar's, a shadow will forever hang over Andy.

This is very sad because Andy probably has no idea just how much we'd love to make his dick trickle and tony terrible...

See for yourself...

Old Lar's Happy Anniversary!

Bobo Puddlegum generously offers his body to Lar Jun as an anniversary gift
This weekend is the 2nd Anniversary of the opening of Old Lar's House!

Owner, celebrity sex symbol and avatar extraordinaire Lar Jun originally created The House to so that girls like me with a penchant for older men could find them easily with minimum effort.

Or that's what he told *me* anyway. I now suspect he had an ulterior motive and it was actually the other way around!

Anyway, over two years Old Lar's House has evolved into so much more. It really is a remarkable story in its own right; one I may diary for posterity on this blog at some point.

Last week Old Lar's traffic tipped the psychologically significant 60,000 mark and is now officially the 30th most populated venue in Second Life (SL). Linden Lab have even recognised the The House by listing it on their web-based 'Destinations' feature.

This achievement is even more impressive when you realise that The House is situated on a mainland region (McFarren) and so has a maximum capacity of 40 avatars (unlike a private region which has a 100 avatar capacity).
What makes Old Lar's House so special? What makes it stand out from all the other copycat young-old venues in SL? Indeed, why I am personally proud that Lar chose to sponsor Pixie Rain Productions instead of one of the many other film makers operating in SL?

Simple really.
Its the people - the DJs, the live performers, the bar dancers, the gadfly's and seducers, the smart arse's and wits, the sluts and the subs, the Masters and the Daddies, the grey people who never move, never talk openly and always block the fooking entrance! Well, perhaps not them.

I love the banter at Lar's, the chitchat, the teasing, the joking and the repartee.

But I love the people the most. This blog-post not only celebrates a two year anniversary, it also celebrates the regulars that frequent Lar's House.

There are far too many people to have captured a picture of each and every one who attended the Anniversary Party. If we missed you, we sincerely apologise. Lar says to let him or I know and we will make sure you get on the Xmas Party blog-post!

After the photographs we have embedded a video of the hugely popular WytchWhisper performing 'Hanky Panky' live at The House last night.

But, before both of those we are pleased to announce a fabulous new competition!

COMPETITION TIME!!

Hidden in amongst the photos that follow is a very special avatar indeed!

As Old Lar's celebrates its second anniversary, this particular avatar celebrates his first ever *DAY* in Second Life!

Yes, its a 'Spot the Noob' competition!

If you think you know who it is, leave a comment on this blog-post to register your answer!

Lar is proud to pronounce that *ALL* correct answers will win a fantastic some-expenses-paid trip to a Second Life Destination of his choice!

The Main Event: WytchWhisper Live at Old Lar's House

And finally...
Congrats and love to Lar from us all!
