Telegraph Pole of the Month, Feb 2013

Telegraph Pole of the Month Feb 2013

It is with great pleasure that we can now bring you the final result of February’s 2013 ‘Telegraph Pole of the Month’ competition…
And the winner is this beautiful telegraph pole created by Debora Stine - available from both her in-world and marketplace stores.
When my eyes first beheld it, I knew had to have it for my own land! This was not a spontaneous impulse-buy but rather the satisfying of a burning need and yearning buried deep inside me.
Debora, as many of you will already know, is also one of SL’s most talented and popular adult photographers. Her flickr account has many great pictures, successfully combining great visuals, great humour and sexiness. Check out her work!
My love of telegraph poles has been with me almost as long as I can remember, along with my love of electrical pylons. But it was Naughty Nataly who introduced me to the wonderful ‘Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society’ founded by the late great Sir Benjamin Spooner B.E.M.
The Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society provides refuge for those of us who bask in the glory of the “everyday mundanitude of these simple silent sentinels the world over.
If you know of or discover any other visually interesting telegraph poles or electrical pylons in-world, be sure to leave details in the comments below or IM me in-world!
You never know, you too could be cited in a ‘Telegraph Pole of the Month’ blog-post! Imagine!

Knowing Me, Knowing You

The person you are photographing is 50% of the portrait and you are the other 50%.
You need the model as much as she needs you.
If she doesn’t want to help you, it will be a very dull picture.
- Lord Patrick Lichfield, English Photographer

When Jinx Jiersen asks if you’d be interested in modelling for him on a photo shoot you answer, without hesitation, “Of course! When do we start?”
I have been fortunate enough to have been asked by Jinx twice – in May 2011 and March 2012. Both sessions have resulted in pictures which I adore.
A photo shoot with Jinx is a complete experience; it encompasses an interview, outfit and make-up selection, animation and pose choices, location and props discussion and finally, the photo shoot itself.
It really is a fun and delightful way to spend time. It is ego-stroking in the nicest possible way.
This time, however, I kinda turned the tables a little and  - unknown to Jinx himself - snapped off some shots of my own as he worked;  a pictorial diary of the experience.
Please enjoy this series of pictures which I have named Knowing Me, Knowing You”. Sorry, but it’s the best I can do.

Jinx and Pixie Rule Britannia

I like people with their own beauty
-         David Bailey CBE (English photographer), 1999

All photographs and interview by Jinx Jiersen. This article was originally published on Emmanuelle Jameson’s ‘The Pornstars’ blog.

Jinx Jiersen: What is your favourite position and why?

Pixie Rain: Doggy position.
I like its animistic and primitive nature. Not being able to look each other "in the eye" creates a feeling of anonymity and disconnection; it is "fucking" rather than "making love".
That is a sexy feeling for me.

JJ: What is your least favourite position and why?

PR: 69’er.
Works perfectly in my imagination but in practice something always seems to go wrong, often with very messy results.
Perhaps I just need more practice.

JJ: What turns you on?

PR: Intelligent humour.

JJ: What turns you off?

PR: Mullet haircuts.

JJ: What sound do you love?

PR: I love the sound of breaking glass.

JJ: What sound do you hate?

PR: The click, whirl and bleep as an ATM cash machine retains my credit card for abusing my limit. Again.

JJ: What is your favourite curse word?

PR: "Bugger".
“Bugger" is a great word because depending on tone of voice and context it can mean either:
1) anal sex by a man with another man or a woman.
2) vaginal intercourse by either a man or woman with an animal.
3) a mild exclamation after an accident or mishap.
4) a term of endearment and affection for a loved one.
The Buggery Act of 1533 remains my favourite legislation of all-time.

JJ: What was your favourite role?

PR: Would it be too corny and predictable to say 'The Kiss' with Jinx Jiersen?
Yeah, I thought so too.
In that case, with Paddledog Oh in 'Showdown'.

JJ: What is your favourite movie?

PR: Difficult one.
Serenity Juneberry has built-up an enviable body of work.
Thorgal McGillivary's 'Dick Tasty' series is fabulously well produced.
Bert Jedburgh's movies will always make me immediately stop whatever I am doing to watch. 'Meow' was definitely one of my personal favourite films of 2011.
But, if I had to go out on a limb to name just one, it would be 'Disturbia' by Aurora Bentham.

JJ: How did you get started in the Adult Movie Industry?

PR: I started making edgy-sexual movies in Second Life in March 2010, soon after I started an account.
I had no idea at that time that SL had a thriving adult machinima community.
After three "inappropriate content" warnings from YouTube I searched for alternative places to post my films. I found NaughtyMachinima and posted them there instead.
My films were noticed by a number of popular bloggers including Emmanuelle, Serenity and Rayven - all of whom have been wonderfully supportive, along with others who have become close friends.

JJ: If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

PR: "I've extended your credit limit for Eternity.”

Location, Location, Location

Jinx Jiersen – Second Life’s most sought after glamour photographer – invited me to attend a second photo shoot with him.
Here is us checking out a potential location for the shoot. Look out for Jinx’s finished photos in the next coming days, with my accompanying pictures of the session itself.
Jinx’s picture below was taken in our session of May 2011. I use it as the desktop on my mobile phone and so see it every day. I adore it.
I look forward to seeing the results of our latest session.

Busy Mode

The Resident you messaged is in 'unavailable mode' which means they have requested not to be disturbed…
Second Life Viewer, Feb/March 2012

I have been working on a film for a few months now - an experimental work using relatively straightforward concepts in what I hope will be an entirely new and exciting way. Certainly it will be a first in SL adult films and I am not aware of it being used yet in other machinima.
As an experimental piece (to practice using Adobe Audition and dynamic-linking for a University module), I do not expect it to be especially popular or “award winning”. I am perfectly fine with that. However, I do hope to “set the bar” for anyone who wants to follow-on and create something similar.
The problem is, I am getting nowhere quickly! I keep getting distracted on other projects, all enjoyable, but also all very time-consuming.
For example, I spent approximately six weeks chairing the judging panel for THE SEXIEST® machinima awards; blog-posts like Innsmouth or Bryn Oh will typically take up all my weekday evenings over a two week period. All this is on-top of my Uni studies and homework which, of course, takes priority.
Over Christmas I had three weeks holiday which I had originally intended to devote to this experimental film. As it happens, I actually spent one afternoon; the remainder of the time was spent on other productive but unplanned tasks.
It used to be that I would log into SL and dance on one monitor while working in Premiere Pro, After Effects or Photoshop in my second monitor. However, nowadays, the constant stream of IMs – from the very moment of logging in until I log out - makes that nigh impossible. They are all lovely IMs from lovely people but, it has to be said, are very distracting from a productive and creative point-of-view.
So….until this film is finished, I’ll be logging into SL less and will not be publishing any “in-depth” blog-posts. This is a shame because I find both activities immensely enjoyable and satisfying but if I don’t do this I fear the experimental film will never get completed.
As soon as the experimental film is complete, I’ll start work on my UWA5 entry. Problem is Bobo is still away on his world cruise and that ‘ole salty seaman is the star of the film!
We don’t know when he gets back but he is greatly missed at Lar’s.

2 Years In Second Life

Today is my 2nd Rez Day in Second Life.
To celebrate I brought myself a *KaS* Corset System Dress, a pair of *KaS* Ballet Boots and a *Beautiful Sin* Titanium Leashed Collar set.
The corset dress I first saw on this picture on Phillip Sidek’s flickr; the leash I saw on a really sexy girl at a club. I should add that I wear the unscripted version of the leash, it is simply a cool-looking item of jewellery to me and has no other connotation. The boots I saw when I went to buy the corset dress.
I set off to take some pictures on an Italian village themed region called Sol Aria.  It was very pretty but sadly crashed after only two photographs. I waited a while for it to return but it didn’t seem to.
In these two years there have been things that I am proud of film-wise – ‘Rapture’, ‘Showdown’ and ‘Sex With Strangers’ particularly.
I am also very proud of this blog; this is my first attempt at doing anything of this sort. Although the readership is quite low, it is a quality readership and I receive very supportive and complimentary messages about it. Thank you so much for reading and being here.
There are changes coming soon too with this blog, I think. I plan to migrate from Blogger to my own domain name on Word Press to avoid Google’s increasingly invasive dips into our privacy.
There is also one thing that is constantly troubling me in Second Life at the moment which I’ll expand on in the coming weeks if I can find the right way to say it. It is one of those “nice problem to have” type of dilemmas, rather than one that is very important in the grand scheme of things. But it is nevertheless distressing me on an almost daily basis.
Nothing I have done in Second Life in the last two years am I ashamed of.
It’s been good.
Thanks.
Pixie xx.

Ninja Edit

"Summer Breeze
Makes Me Feel Fine
Blowing Through the Jazzmin in my mind"

For the last ten days, I have been working on a new blog-post concerning HP Lovecraft and the fictional town of Innsmouth, Massachusetts.
I have created 30-odd pictures that I am happy with and think work well to help illustrate the story I want to tell.
And I know precisely what it is I want to say.
However, I am struggling to get the words from my out of my brain and onto the written page.
I am not sure why.
I mentally compose the paragraph in my mind, sit to type it and…it just don’t happen.
Or more precisely, it feels contrived and unnatural – and anything I try to write isn’t truly representing my thoughts.
I don’t know why.
When subject to these episodes of writer’s block, I am grateful for any distraction – any distraction at all.
It was with relief then when someone asked me to make a new hi-resolution self-portrait for a blog-post they want to publish on their blog end-Jan/early-Feb.
I find taking pictures and working with visuals and colours far less taxing on the brain than working with words and text. And I now had a valid excuse to leave off writing the Innsmouth article for yet another night!
Yay for valid excuses!
I knew immediately where I wanted to go to take the portrait – one of my favourite regions ever – Mad Ninjaz!
I have already blogged this beautiful, colourful and relaxing region before. Additionally we filmed the ‘musical instrument’ sequence of ‘Showdown’ there.
I was more than happy to return and spend some time there.
I found a nice position on the region, a good animation and moved my camera to different positions, keyboarding shortcut <Ctrl-‘> a total of eight times to take these high-res snapshots. Same animation and same position for each snapshot - only the camera angle was changed.
I am pretty pleased with them, overall. But none of them are suitable for the portrait I was requested to do!
Oh well, I suppose I have saved my valid excuse to avoid doing the Innsmouth article for yet another night!

Rabbits Are People Too

“…and the rabbits sang as if every sparkling drop of morning dew were a fountain of inspiration to them...

- The Pickwick Papers (1836), Charles Dickens

Simon on her Hatch Day, 365 days ago

Today, Simon - my oldest rabbit - has her 365th Rez Day !
As I have explained before, whereas human avatars have one Rez Day per year, virtual rabbits have one Rez Day per day.
It's just another one of those Marvellous Mysteries of the Metaverse.
Celebration Carrot Cakes

In this transient, changeable and fickle world that is Second Life, not many rabbits actually make it to their 365th Rez Day – geez, very few human avatars even make it to their 1st Rez Day if retention figures are anything to go by!
So it really is quite a feat that Simon has survived so long! A good reason indeed to celebrate - especially after her difficult early life.
You see, Simon has certain gender issues that she would rather we didn’t discuss publicly.  She is a very sensitive rabbit; a buck trapped in the body of a doe.
Suffice it to say that she would rather we didn't address her by her real birth name, 'Simone'.
"Call me Simon"

Vellhi hatched two days after Simon.
Vellhi is always happy! Doesn't matter what happens, he is *always* happy!
How cool is that?
Well, actually, not very cool at all.
I am sad to report that a leading pet psychologist recently diagnosed Vellhi as suffering from Chronic Obsessive Happiness Disorder.
Watching him is like watching a clown perform at your grandma's wake - you know it is *intended* to cheer you up - but it is such singularly inappropriate behaviour that is just doesn't!
Vellhi - Catastrophically Happy

My youngest rabbit is Orwell - named after George Orwell and Orson Welles.
He is a nasty piece of work, a real evil buggar. He likes to call himself 'Napoleon'.
He taunts my other rabbits mercilessly: "If you're a buck, then why dontcha got a willy? Huh?", he will say. And things like, "Keep taking your pills, Happy Boy!"
Today he even threatened to bite off Tutsy's face!
Orwell - No one ever has a good word to say about him

In April 2011, Orwell got himself in trouble with The Authorities for faking his own death to try and claim the insurance money.
Because it was his first offence (that they were aware of), the police let him off with a caution. One of their friendly councillors gave him a donut and told him to stick more closely to church related social activities.
Orwell - Notorious Death Faker (April 2011)

Each of my rabbits has its own foibles and quirks, its own weaknesses and strengths, its own vulnerabilities.
And I love each one of them for who they are.
Because each of them is an individual.
In that respect at least, rabbits are people too.
